February 9, 11, 12, 13, 16, 18, 19, 20, 23, 25, 26, 27
All weekday sessions will be 7-9pm
All Saturday sessions will be 8-10am
These are the class dates ONLY and do not include each students six required drives.
Drives may continue up to three weeks after the last scheduled day of class.
What to Expect
Our behind-the-wheel program builds skills progressively, moving from quiet residential streets to more complex city and freeway driving. Each lesson has specific objectives to help students develop confidence and safe driving habits.
Students gain experience in residential neighborhoods, rural and county roads, Plainwell, downtown Holland, and on the freeway—with posted speed limits ranging from 25 to 70 mph. Students learn to choose safe speeds based on traffic, weather, road conditions, and posted limits.
Drive 1 — Foundations: Low-speed residential driving in the neighborhood behind Allegan Bible Church. Students learn reference points, proper lane positioning, right and left turns, and other foundational skills.
Drive 2 — Rural Driving: Builds on foundational skills and introduces rural driving on larger roads.
Drive 3 — City Driving: Introduces lane changes and light city driving in Plainwell.
Drive 4 — Downtown Driving: Takes students through downtown Holland to develop skills in a more complex traffic environment.
Drive 5 — Roundabouts and Freeways: Focuses on navigating roundabouts as well as freeway merging and exiting.
Drive 6 — Comprehensive Review: Combines multiple driving environments to reinforce skills and assess readiness for continued supervised practice.
Rural driving is incorporated throughout the program.
Progression and Completion
Students must safely complete each lesson’s objectives before advancing to the next drive. Completing the scheduled lessons does not automatically guarantee a certificate. Certificates of completion will be issued only after students meet all course objectives and completion requirements.

All classes and drives will take place from Allegan Bible Church

Makeup days are TBD and as needed (*weather cancellations, approved absences, etc.)
No class or drives on Sunday
No class on Wednesdays (*drives may occur before 6pm)
Behind the wheel (BTW’s) sessions may take place right after school, during the day (for homeschoolers or non-traditional) and Saturdays.
If your school has in service days, etc. those may be utilized for scheduling purposes.
Drives typically begin after the second day of class
It is important that families maintain as open a schedule as possible for the duration of drivers training. Too many conflicts can disrupt a smooth and successful driver’s training experience.
Segment 1 requires that all students be at least 14 years and 8 months old by the first day of class. Each student is required to verify their date of birth by bringing a copy of their birth certificate to the first day of class. Parents will be able to send the instructor a photograph verifying the birthdate.
Garrett’s School of Driving, LLC reserves the right to make changes as needed to the course schedule and format.
